How we do it
The principle is simple:
The single-use pallets are dismantled, the raw timber is planed, glued together, and this results in a sturdy piece of timber. Just wood glue and a double mortise and tenon joint.
Source material: The disposable pallets arrive at Möbel Ehrmann with the delivered products – up to 500 per month.
Storage: The pallets are stored in a dry place. Any residual moisture evaporates.
The pallets are disassembled and the individual boards are sorted into different thicknesses using templates. This makes further processing much easier.
Transporting materials to the factory: When dismantled, four times as many pallet boards fit into a transporter as in the form of whole pallets.
The material is cut to size: planed into boards 70 mm wide and 15 mm thick, the standard dimensions of the pallet timber are used directly. As the timber has already been sorted, there is no need to constantly adjust the machine settings.
Milling, gluing and assembling the parts: Wood glue and a double mortise and tenon joint are used, with not a single screw.
The finish is applied using a hard wax oil.
Euro pallets are not used in the production of Tutto furniture. They are suitable for transporting Tutto furniture during shipping.
In the production of tuttos, we focus on resource conservation, local sourcing and inclusion. In the production of tuttos, we focus on reuse, local sourcing and inclusion. The single-use pallets are dismantled in workshops for people with disabilities and by organisations supporting reintegration into the labour market in the region, and transformed into tutto furniture.
Regional win
With the help of the Südpfalzwerkstatt, the pallets are disassembled directly at the logistics centre of Möbel Ehrmann and at AQA Neunkirchen, sorted by thickness and length, and shipped just a few dozen kilometres further to Heinrich Kimmle Manufaktur.
Socially sustainable production
The wood is carefully planed and processed into tutto furniture at Heinrich Kimmle Manufaktur, an inclusive company for people with disabilities. This is also where the final finishing, packaging and dispatch takes place.
Sophisticated system
A seemingly simple process, thought through down to the last detail: short distances between the workshops, a design tailored to the dimensions of the pallet boards, and a manufacturing process that requires no screws.
